(From Leonard Oakes)
Dear members and friends of EAM/Filipino Convocation,
This is to update you of what transcribed at the EAM/FilCon gathering at the Hyatt Hotel in Burlingame this past week’s EAM@40 Convention. The Filipino Convocation elected the following FilCon members to lead the convocation in bringing our local concerns, hopes and accomplishment to the church wide EAM Convention.
The Rev. Leonard Oakes – FilCon Convener
Evelina Fradejas – Co-convener
Bernadette Almodiel – Secretary
Dwaine Bueno – Assistant secretary
Let’s congratulate the above FilCon representative leaders to EAM.
As initial plans, I would like to suggest the following as our starting point in our effort to bring everyone to our table.
Initial EAM/FilCon Plans:
1. Update FilCon directories and Contacts
2. Enhance communication strategies through the Creation of FilCon website / Facebook / Twitter account/ and others
3. Quarterly Newsletter (All member Parishes, Mission Churches submit articles or news announcements or updates)
4. Episcopal Youth Event (EYE) representative to the National EYE gathering in Philadelphia in July 2014
5. Concerns of Filipino Clergy in the US, Canada and other Provinces
6. Immigration status/issues
7. Saint Andrew’s Theological Seminary and other seminary updates
8. Other issues and concerns?
I believe that the first four enumerated concerns are something we can accomplish in a short period of time. I ask you all therefore, to help us connect each other by providing and disseminating request to your local leaders to participate in this church wide directory updates and discern for young and other skilled members in developing our website and other communication accounts.
Our Secretary, Bernadetter Almodiel and her abled assistant Dwaine Bueno will help out in ensuring our communication strategies are put together for the benefit of all.
It is also very important to start talking and discerning FilCon youth representatives to the Episcopal Youth Event (EYE) that is going to happen in Philadelphia in July of 2014.
Should I not be available to attend meetings to the leadership gatherings, our co-convener Evelina Fradejas will be there in my place.
Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated. Email us at:
Thank you all for your trust in your leadership.
The Rev Leonard Oakes, FilCon convener
Evelina Fradejas, Co-convener
“To relieve the distressed is a duty incumbent on all good persons who are linked together by an indissoluble chain of sincere affection. To soothe the unhappy, to symphathize with their misfortunes, to compassionate with their miseries and to restore peace to their troubled minds, is the great aim we have in view. On this basis, we form our friendship and establish our connections.”
“Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth”
